Nolan's trilogy is good, TDK is one of the best super-hero movies I ever saw. But it's not Batman.

He wanted to make realistic, grounded movies. And he made it work, props to him. I respect how he did his own thing.

Hell, even Joel Schumacher's movies captured the universe's imagery better. But again, that's not what Nolan wanted to do so I don't blame him. It was just not the Batman I grew up with, in the animated series, the comics, the Arkham games...
